The adoption process has several stages to ensure our huskies are going to qualified, educated, loving forever homes.
All adult TXHR huskies are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, on heart worm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.
Adoption Fees are $385/adult and $450/puppies six months and under. There is also an additional $100 spay/neuter deposit for puppies.
NOTE: $100 of each adoption fee is non-refundable if the husky is returned during the trial period.
Pay your adoption fee via PayPal or via a donation on our website.
Process to adopt
Step 1: Submit an Application Online
There is no application fee and all applications are processed by part-time volunteer members. If you rent a house or live in an apartment, we will verify huskies are accepted with the landlord/management company. Security deposits are the responsibility of the adopter.
This process can take 1-2 weeks, depending on availability.
Step 2: Vet Check
Vet history is checked to confirm all current and/or previous animals are up-to-date on their vaccines and check-ups. If there is missing or inconsistent information, we may reach out for more details.
Step 3: Interview & Fence/Home check
A Volunteer application counselor will speak with you to determine readiness for husky life, and start considering possible matches. We also require videos/pictures are send of your backyard to check for gaps, broken slats, holes, compromised spots, etc where a husky could escape.
Step 4: Meet & Greet
Once approved, you will work with the application counselor to speak with fosters and set up time to meet the husky you are interested in adopting to ensure it's a good fit.
Step 5: Sign Contract and Pay Adoption Fees
In order to take one of our huskies home, you must sign an Adoption Contract and pay the adoption fees. A digital contract will be emailed (or can be filled out in person).
Step 6: Enjoy your lifelong companion!
There is a 5-day trial period for all adoptions. This ensures the husky is a good fit in your home and lifestyle. Once the trial period is up, the adoption is finalized and all necessary information is sent to the adopter.
