The lymph node results show no signs of cancer! We are happy to report he came through the surgery like the CHAMP he is! He’s on pain meds (of course) but doing very well so far. WOW! The resilience of dogs is amazing!
Have you ever noticed how versatile a dog’s tongue has to be? Able to delicately pluck one specific tasty morsel out of their dog food, and yet able to enthusiastically lick your face with joyful abandon? Can you imagine losing ANY part of that important appendage to cancer?
That’s where Crash is…Fosters noticed a growth on his tongue and he was diagnosed with a mast cell cancerous tumor. He will require surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from his tongue. At this point, the goal is to remove the tumor with at least 1 cm margins around it to ensure we get all the cancerous cells. While this means removing about a fifth to a sixth of his tongue, we expect Crash to maintain normal tongue function, though he may be a slightly messier drinker afterward.
One thing we know about Crash….he’s going to lick this (pun intended). How do we know this? Because this isn’t the first bad luck Crash experienced in his life. Some of you might remember back in May 2018 when he first showed up on our radar. We received an urgent plea from the Garland Animal Shelter regarding a stray that was severely injured by a car. Crash was in shock, suffering from severe bruising to his lungs and having a difficult time breathing. Along with his lung trauma this boy had TWO broken legs! His front leg had a major fracture and his humerus bone had been basically shattered. Crash’s rear leg had been completely “cracked off” from his hip.
Texas Husky Rescue stepped up. And many of you donated for his medical expenses then….we spent over $5,000 for his expenses, and our GoFundMe raised over $4,000, which helped a LOT.

This boy is a survivor and a warrior. He gamely did all his rehab like the fighter he is. This was during his therapy in September of 2018. Here are a couple of posts from Facebook at the time: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Buzfukmts/ and https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16SG6sVzy8/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Crash is lucky in one MAJOR way. For every setback, there is a blessing. For every rain shower, there is a rainbow. He came back to Rescue, and was welcomed by his former foster family who nurtured him through his initial recovery. They are prepared again to work with him through this medical trial. They, like Texas Husky Rescue, commit to EVERY dog we rescue. Once a member of our pack, always a member of our pack.

Crash has more work ahead of him, and we need your help to help him. We committed to the surgery on June 2nd to remove this horrible cancer scourge, but surgical costs and follow-up treatment will again be over $6,000.
He PROMISES he will be a good boi again, and do whatever the doctors want him to do. His foster family PROMISES they will stay by his side as he recovers AGAIN! Texas Husky Rescue PROMISES we will give him all the resource, all the chances, and all the financial support he needs! Can you help us with all those promises, and donate? #EveryDollarHelps!
